Dr. John Cofer



John is married to Brenda.  They have four children:  Elisabeth, married to Jeremy Lee, with two sons; Jennifer; Paul, married to Christy with a daughter and son; and Stephen, married to Amber with a son.  He has pastored churches in Georgia and Mississippi.  John has served the Lord at Liberty for more than 25 years.  He has degrees from Georgia Tech (B.C.E.), Tennessee Temple Baptist Theological Seminary (M.Div.,ThM), and Dallas Theological Seminary (D.Min.).  John became a Christ-follower at the age of 20 while attending college.  As a shepherd, he  looks forward to discovering God’s plan for each member of Liberty as well as our purpose in advancing the Kingdom of God in the 21st century.

Mark Branson

Minister of Music


Mark has served Liberty as the Minister of Music/Worship since 2010. He is married to Adrianne, and they have one adult married son, Andrew (Hannah). They are the proud grandparents of Hazel Grace.

Upon receiving a Bachelor of Music degree in Sacred Music & Voice from Union University, Mark and Adrianne began serving the Lord through the local church. Now spanning 30+ years of ministry, they have served in Kentucky, Tennessee, and Mississippi. The ministry’s focus has always been to lift up the name of Jesus so people would be drawn to a loving and compassionate Savior.

Aubrey Chapman

Student Minister


Aubrey is a native of Mississippi and grew up in Rankin County.  He studied psychology for his undergraduate degree and received a Master’s degree in Pastoral Counseling from the Liberty University School of Divinity.  He has a background in coaching soccer through numerous local organizations and serving the children and students at LBC.  He enjoys traveling and serving with his wife Rebecca and connecting with families throughout the area.  His involvement in the local church spans from serving as Deacon, on committees, and multiple board positions to help people find a balance between daily life and honoring God.  He is the proud dad to one son, Alton Brooks. His favorite book of the Bible is James.

Rebecca Chapman

Family & Children’s Minister


Rebecca is from Natchez, MS and graduated from LSU with a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education. She also attended Liberty University, where she obtained a Master’s in Human Services Counseling and Christian Ministries. She has a background in children’s ministry and international missions, and is passionate about impacting the next generation. Rebecca is married to Aubrey, and they enjoy serving alongside one another in ministry and all of life’s endeavors. They have one son Alton Brooks, “A.B.” Some of Rebecca’s favorite things are spending time with family, traveling, and all things LSU.

Mike McCool

Minister of Education and Administration


Mike is from Biloxi, MS and attended Mississippi State University for his undergraduate degree in Business Management. He later attended the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. It was there he received his Master’s in Religious Education and took his first position in a church.

Mike is married to Barbara and they have had 3 children. Mike and Barbara lost their only daughter (Allison) a few years back, but they love spending time with their sons Jonathan and Franklin, daughter-in-laws, and grandchildren. Mike and Barbara have been heavily involved in the community of central Mississippi. Barbara was a principal at a local elementary school for many years.

Megan Hitt

Ministry Assistant


Megan is from Columbia, MS and graduated from William Carey University with a Bachelor’s in Art and a Master’s in Art Education. She currently paints and makes digital artwork from her home. Megan is married to Isaac Hitt, a software developer also from Columbia, and they both attend Trace Ridge Baptist Church, where they both serve on the worship team and Isaac serves as a deacon. They have two dogs, a miniature schnauzer named “Sarge”, and a cairn terrier mix named “Jude”. Some of Megan’s favorite things are spending time with family and friends, traveling, playing ukulele, and making art.
